The Baroque Church of St. Peter is the central cultural and architectural landmark of Komenda. Together with the church square, which also features elements designed by the architect Jože Plečnik, it forms one of the town’s most recognisable views and represents an important part of its historical heritage.

Glavar Benefice House with Memorial Room and Library
The Glavar Benefice House preserves the memory of Peter Pavel Glavar, a priest, benefactor, estate manager and one of Slovenia’s most important beekeeping writers. Its memorial room presents his life and rich legacy, while the historic library is of particular cultural value. Through his practical work, teaching and specialist writing, Glavar made an important contribution to the development of beekeeping knowledge in Slovenia. His legacy is continued today by the local beekeeping association.
Equestrian Tradition
Equestrianism is one of the most recognisable features of Komenda. The tradition continues today primarily through harness racing, horse races and various events held at the Komenda Hippodrome, an important sporting and social venue in the area.

Beekeeping is an important part of Komenda’s heritage, largely due to Peter Pavel Glavar. Through his writing, teaching and practical work, he made a significant contribution to the development of beekeeping knowledge in Slovenia.
Pogačar’s Roundabout
The roundabout in front of the municipal building is a modern and distinctive landmark in Komenda, dedicated to local cycling champion Tadej Pogačar and his outstanding achievements in international cycling. Its symbolic colours reflect the pride of the local community.
