With just over a week to go until the 2026 UEC Road European Championships, preparations are entering their final stage. Visitors are advised to plan their journey in advance and arrive early, as parking directly along the race routes will not be possible and some of the most popular sections will only be accessible on foot.
According to the latest figures, 899 riders from 43 national teams are registered for the Championships. The field will include some of the biggest names in European cycling, among them Remco Evenepoel, Mads Pedersen, Juan Ayuso, Marc Hirschi and Giovanni Aleotti, while a strong Slovenian line-up is also expected on home roads. The final composition of the Slovenian national team will be announced in the coming days.
Parking areas for visitors will be available across the wider Šenčur, Preddvor and Cerklje na Gorenjskem area, from where spectators will continue on foot to their chosen viewing point along the route. Fan zones will be set up at several locations, including Šenčur, Preddvor and Možjanca. Early arrival is particularly recommended for those planning to watch the races at Možjanca or Štefanja Gora. Možjanca will be accessible on foot from the direction of Olševek, while Štefanja Gora can be reached from the direction of Adergas. Bicycle access to Možjanca will be permitted during designated time windows, while cycling on the race route will not be allowed when a race is in progress. Visitors are asked to strictly follow the instructions of marshals, security personnel and other authorised staff on site, who will manage access and movement along the course according to the progress of the race.
Special traffic arrangements will be in place during the Championships. As the race convoy passes, the police will implement temporary rolling road closures, while several-hour full road closures will be required on the final section towards Šenčur and through Luže, Tupaliče, Možjanca and Štefanja Gora due to repeated passages of the riders. Temporary traffic restrictions will also apply in central Ljubljana on 2, 3 and 4 October due to the race starts.
Each rolling road closure will last approximately 45 minutes on a given section. During this time, all road users must stop, move off the road and follow police instructions. The end of the closure will be marked by the final police vehicle carrying an illuminated sign.
Visitors are invited to experience the Championships from alongside the route and help create a true cycling atmosphere, while also ensuring a safe environment for the riders and fellow spectators. Spectators should not step onto the road, run alongside riders or approach them to take photos or videos. Children should remain under adult supervision at all times, while pets should be kept on a lead and safely away from the route.
