The milestone 100th tree of the UEC Forest initiative was planted at the kindergarten playground in Šenčur. The Organising Committee deliberately chose Šenčur for the planting as a gesture of gratitude to the Municipality of Šenčur, Šenčur Primary School and the local community for their hospitality, support and cooperation in hosting the Championships.

The planting, held during the 2026 UEC Road European Championships, was attended by all members of the UEC Management Board, led by UEC President Enrico Della Casa, as well as Andraž Vehovar, President of the Organising Committee and President of the Slovenian Cycling Federation, Tomaž Poljanec, Secretary General of the Championships, Aleš Perič Močnik, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Šenčur, and Stanka Naglič, Headteacher of Šenčur Primary School.

UEC launched the UEC Forest initiative in 2022 to highlight its commitment to sustainability and the close connection between cycling and nature. “This is already the 100th tree planted as part of the UEC Forest initiative, and I am delighted that we are marking this milestone here in Slovenia. It will grow alongside the children attending this kindergarten and remind them of the importance of caring for the environment,” said UEC President Enrico Della Casa.

Šenčur is one of the key venues of the Championships, with the Municipality of Šenčur, Šenčur Primary School, the kindergarten and the local community all making an important contribution to its delivery. “You have truly embraced these Championships as your own. My sincere thanks to the municipality, the school, the kindergarten and the entire local community for your warm welcome, hospitality and support,” said Andraž Vehovar, President of the Organising Committee and President of the Slovenian Cycling Federation.
