The race routes will take riders from Ljubljana to the Gorenjska region, with the decisive stages of the Championships taking place on the finishing circuit around Šenčur, where this autumn’s European champions will be crowned.
Across five days of competition, the 2026 UEC Road European Championships will feature 14 races in the Junior, Under 23 and Elite categories. In addition to the road races, the programme includes Individual Time Trials and the Mixed Relay Team Time Trial. The highlight of the Championships will be the Elite Men Road Race, covering 196.3 kilometres, with the European title decided over five laps of the finishing circuit featuring the climb to Možjanca.
The Elite Men’s, Elite Women’s and Men Under 23 road races will start from Congress Square in Ljubljana. Following a neutralised start through the city centre, the peloton will head towards the Gorenjska region. The decisive part of the races will take place on a 22.1-kilometre finishing circuit around Šenčur, featuring 367 metres of elevation gain per lap.
The defining feature of the circuit is the 2.1-kilometre climb to Možjanca, with an average gradient of 10.2% and a maximum gradient of 15.8%. From the summit, the route continues across rolling terrain towards Štefanja Gora, followed by a technical descent to the lower station of the Krvavec cable car, a fast section through Cerklje na Gorenjskem, and the return to Šenčur via Strmol Castle. Designed to encourage attacking racing, the circuit provides the perfect setting for an open battle for the European titles.
