Norway’s Elias Dybing claimed the European junior road race title at the 2026 UEC Road European Championships. Slovenia’s best-placed rider, Maks Olenik, finished 20th.
The second day of racing at the European Championships opened with the junior men’s road race, starting and finishing in Šenčur. The European title went to 18-year-old Norwegian Elias Dybing. Spain’s Aitor Martínez took silver, while Dutch rider Jop van den Biggelaar claimed bronze.
“The race was tough, but I had good legs. Before the start, I didn’t think I could become European champion. In the final kilometres, I heard that the chasing riders were getting closer, but I felt good and still had enough strength left in the final kilometre. This title means a lot to me,” Dybing said after his victory.
Maks Olenik was the best-placed Slovenian, finishing 20th, 15 seconds behind the winner. Slovenia was also represented by Gal Stare, Maj Bohak, Vanja Kuntarič Žibert, Nik Muršec and Urban Repše.
